John Dana was born and raised near Avon, Montana. Growing up, his home was a working cattle ranch and he returns home each summer to help his dad and brother in making hay. John made the move to North Idaho in 1991 and began his working for a locally owned lumber yard who was a major supplier for the custom home industry. Prior to getting his general contractor’s license in 2007, John worked as an Outside Contractor Salesman for 13 years and also for Campbell & Campbell in Coeur d' Alene building homes in The Club at Black Rock. There, he was Randy's lead project manager and general manager for a number of years.
Over the course of his career as a supplier and contractor, John has looked at and worked on well over 2500 custom homes. He has a strong working relationship with several local architects and engineers and is able to detect design flaws helping to avoid any problems in function and structure. A specialty of Dana Construction includes log and timber frame homes and he has working relationships with local log home and timber frame manufacturers. John has an extensive group of skilled craftsmen in this area on whom he can count on to do quality work.

John and his wife Kim, a native of Sandpoint, have a son Cody. John is involved with Bonner County horse & beef 4-H programs, enjoys supporting the livestock sale and always likes to help out where needed. John’s interest in antique tractors and semi-trucks is furthered by his membership in the Panhandle Antique Tractor and Engine Club and the American Truck Historical Society (ATHS).
